for tanks, wells, sumps, watertowers, lakes density (specific gravity) and pressure
measurement
Digital Tank-O-Meters® accurately measure tank contents regardless of the tank location in relation to the Digital Display. They are a natural extension of Uehling's well known and time proven line (since 1896) of Tank-O-Meter® gauge products.
Systems are also available as a retrofit addition to existing gauge installations operating on the hydrostatic principle. Digital Tank-O-Meters® are often used with existing conventional gauages to create a backup system, allow comparison readings to assure accuracy, and take advntage of the analog output as well as the built-in high/low level alarm or switch capabilities.
Uehling's Digital Tank-O-Meter® is suitable for use througout the Chemical, Petrochemical, Marine, Food, Dairy, and Pharmaceutical Industries, along with Power Plants, Cosmetic Manufacturing Plants, Municipalities, Waste and Water Treatment Facilities, Distilleries, Breweries, and wherever there is a need to measure liquid level.
When a tank is 100% vented to atmosphere, the Digital Tank-O-Meter® is
operated using a two-line system. Air is introduced into line "B" which will force
the liquid being measured out of the pressure pipe. The pressure created in the pipe (the
head pressure) returns to the transducer through line "A", is converted to an
electrical signal and the Digital Tank-O-Meter® displays the corresponding
liquid depth or volume.
When a tank is not 100% vented to atmosphere at all times, the Digital
Tank-O-Meter® is operated using a three-line system. Lines "A"
and "B" have the same function as in the two-line system. A third
line "C" is added to segregate pressure or vacuum above the liquid in the tank
from the head pressure.
...for your factory calibrated Digital Tank-O-Meter® may be performed while the
tank is in service. Uehling Instrument can supply everything needed to connect the system.
Installation is simple and quick, requiring no special tools or skills. Systems often can
be installed and operating in less than one hour.
Two types of ("O") Digital Tank-O-Meters® are available for open
tanks (100% Vented to Atmosphere) containing Hot Water, Hot Plating Solutions, Acids, and
similar liquids. These applications require a continuous purge system to avoid condensation
of vapors in the air lines. A minimum of 3/8" air line between the Digital
Tank-O-Meter® and the tank is required. Continous air purge consumption is
approximately .5 SCFH.
Gauges with Bubbling Bottles (add "O" to model number e.g. 10VV-O) are used with
general plant air systems. The bubbling bottle oil serves as an indication of the purge rate
in addition to removing dirt and blocking moisture from entering the system. When plant air has
particularly high dirt and moisture content, a combination Air Filter/Regulator/Condensate
Trap may additionally be required upstream from the Bubbling Bottle.
Gauges with a Tel-Flo meter (add "NO" to model number e.g. 10VV-NO) are designed
for clean dry air, instrument air or inert gas systems where tank content purity must be
maintained. A combination Air Filter/Regulator/Condensate Trap may optionally be required.
Two types of equalized ("OE") Digital Tank-O-Meters® are available
for closed tanks containing Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, Phenol and other
corrosive fuming liquids.
In order to keep vapors contained in the tank, a continuous purge system using inert gas or air
is necessary. The purge system requires either double Bubbling Bottles or double Tel-Flo meters
to segregate pressure, vacuum or blanket pressure above the liquid from the tank liquid level
(head pressure). Systems with double Bubbling Bottles consume approximately 1 SCFH (double
Tel-Flo's approximately 2 SCFH) and require a minimum of 3/8" air line.
Systmes with double Bubbling Bottles (add "OE" to model number e.g. 10VX-OE) are
useful with general plant air systems. In some cases, a combination Air
Filter/Regulator/Condensate Trap may additionally be required upstream from the Bubbling
Bottles when plant air has particularly high moisture and dirt content.
Systems with double Tel-Flo meters (add "NOE" to model number e.g. 10VX-NOE) are used
with clean dry air, instrument air or inert gas, where tank content purity must be maintained.
A combination Air Filter/Regulator/Condensate Trap may be optionally required.
The combination Input Manifold/Transducer Mounting block permits easy connection of pneumatic
signal lines; simple wall mounting; electrical connection of the transducer as well as the
input connection of inert gas to Tel-Flo meter(s) or shop air for bubbling bottle(s).
A pressure transducer is mounted or submerged at a known location near or at the bottom of the
tank. Pressure from the liquid level (head pressure) is converted to an electrical signal that
is sent to the Digital Display module. The electrical signal is then conditioned/scaled and,
if required, compensated for non-linear tank configuration (calibrations where the
weight or volume per cubic unit of depth varies) in the required unit of measurement and
displayed by an easy-to-read 4-1/2 digit display. Direct Reading Systems are intended for
measuring clean, non-corrosive liquids.
The pressure transducer is mounted to a threaded opening at a known location on the tank, or
watertower. This type of system is designated by the letter "D" preceding the
model system range -- e.g. D-10VVI. An Isolation and Air Bleed Valve assembly is optionally
available to allow removal of the transducer without draining the tank.
The pressure transducer is mounted to a Class 150 ANSI Flanged opening at a known location on
the tank. Units are standard with an internal amplifier for a remote display. This type of
system is designated by the letters "DF" preceding the model system range -- e.g.
DF-10VVI.
The pressure transducer is mounted to a CIP (clean in place) Sanitary Flange opening at a known
location on a vented tank. Units are standard with an internal amplifier for a remote display.
This type of system is designated by the letters "DSF" preceding the model system
range -- e.g. DSF-10VVI.
Some applications like underground tanks and wells do not permit easy access for mounting a
transducer on the side or bottom. In this case a submersible transducer is mounted on a pipe
of suitable material and lowered from the top into the tank through a 2" NPT opening.
The pipe protects the electrical signal cable and also holds the transducer in its proper
location. Direct Submersibl units are standard with an internal amplifier for a remote
display and a minimum of 15 feet of signal cable. Additional lengths are optionally
available. This type of system is for vented tanks only and is designated by the letters
"DS" preceding the model system range -- e.g. DS-10VVI.
